hey guys, Ive recently blown both of my subs so Ive decided I'll go for something the amp shouldn't blow.
They need to handle 1000W RMS each on 2 OHMS, they must be 12" since Ive already got fiberglass boxes made up, I'm looking for something punchy (obviously) but also with decent sound quality to match the rest of my set-up.

Budget is around $750 per sub but I can probably add a little bit more to that if the right ones are found.

So I put it to you, what would you recommend?

I would say DD 3500 series woofers...

1200WRMS/4800W peak. Massive power, but it'll only be useful if you decide to get one sub and run the DVC into 2Ohm loading.

If you look at the site, 12" is US$629...can't remember who ships them in locally, but there is a distributor in Australia. Most likely it will cost you more than that...max $800.

If not go for the lower series 2500 series. US$419

750WRMS/3000W peak which is probably more suitable for your amp. Probably a little bit more power than you need, but at least you know you won't blow the sub.

No I'm not a DD sales rep. I just happened to have heard a few of these while I was in the states and they were pretty damn awesome.

EDIT: By the way, DD subs are mainly used in SPL, but have pretty good SQL if set up right...well that's with any system really. Out of curiosity, what subs did you have before and what brand amp you running?

I know of a DD dealer in Canberra although i prefer to stick with the one company so i might see if they can source some for me, unless there are any other subs that come to mind for anyone?

I had 2 Eclipse SW8210's running off an Alpine MRP 2000, had the subs for a couple of years and they received some harsh treatment over their time haha.

Soo, apparently DD no longer have any dealers in Australia at all, the shop that i thought was in Canberra has recently closed down :/
