I am looking around to replace my stock speakers in my gli i am unsure if i need 6 1/2" or if just 6" will fit i would love to be able to just screw them in with no modding but i can if i have too. Here are some cheap ones i have been looking at on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... 06284&rd=1 im sure these would sound better than the stock ones??? i have a good jvc head unit so it will send out enough power, i even have a spare kicker amp that i could hook up to them (doubt i would need to)

I have these Alpines

http://www.hifispeed.dk/shop/default.asp?ProductID=126

in my doors, without the plastic covers they come with of course, and the magnets are very big and the whole speaker for a 6 1/2" is very chunky. Big rubber surrounds. I have them in the front doors of the EF but had to place a couple of little rubber spacers so the door skins wouldn't go againts the speaker surrounds. Also had to cut off a couple of the plastic studs on the door skin speakers grilles. I have been able to keep the stock look which is what I wanted. But is was tight.
BTW, I knew the doors skins would be too close to the speakers rubber surrounds, I confirmed this by applying some silcon spray on the doors skins, then placed them back on the car, removed them again to find the silicon spray had transfered onto the speaker surrounds. Not good for quality reproduction...

thanks for the replys, i knoe that boss are a s**t brand, but my mate has these hell cheap DNA 6x9 3 ways in the back of his car and they sound good, alot better than my stocks. I do have a 250 watt rms sub that is in the car powered bye a kicker amp, so i wouldent be putting any bass through the back speakers. any suggestions on cheap upgrades to the stocks?

why waste your money? save up a lil more and get something half decent

wether 6.5"s will fit depends on the brand, some will, some wont
