hey guys
just a quick rundown firstly: -stinger terminals -stinger distn block in boot -0 gauge wiring -2 subs -2 amps looking to earth from the battery terminal to the engine block with 0 gauge q is - do i need to also earth the distn block (with 0 gauge) - or is there a better way to go about it in general? cheers

i know this much earth should be as a general rule of thumb the same size or bigger than power cables used and should be kept as short as possible. would be better to be safe and for everything that needs a earth use 0 gauge

I don't really understand "earthing a distribution block"??
A distribution block is used to turn 1 thick wire into several thinner wires. i.i., 0 gauge runs from battery to boot where the distribution block splits it into two 4 gauge cables.

A "GROUND" never needs to be bigger than the positive cable, this gets sprouted a lot but it has absolutely NO basis in any form of electrical theory in fact if it is shorter than the positive it can be thinner, it is basic ohms law.... It looks nice to have a huge ground cable but it is almost always unneccessary when a cable half the size will often be big enough....

yes but most people won't factor most of that in i ony put it in its most simple of forms. Maybe i should rephrase what i said. Basically the ground cable needs to supply the same / greater signal to the device than the power. If the earth is weaker than power the device could overload.

outlaw while you're dead right. It's best to tell people it should be at least the same size, because most are not going to figure out the resistance of their ground cable over the length of it (adding in the resistance of the cars body) to calculate what gauge cable is needed.
Best for everyone to let this 'rule of thumb' stand. To the OP, no you don't ground the distro block, you'll blow fuses or break things real quick. The amp(s) need to be grounded, it may be easier if you'be got more than one to use ANOTHER distribution block, but DON'T ground the POWER one.
