Hi Guys - I've just fitted an a spoiler c/w LEDs to my EL and now want to wire it in. (There are no plugs on the wiring for the LED lights) - Q. do I splice the wires directly into the ones for the high stop light or should there be wiring already in place for this purpose?

If your car didnt originally come with a spoiler with lights, then it wont have the wiring there. In which case, run it along the back of the boot, and down the hinge allowing room in the wiring for the lid to lift up and down. And then just splice into your current wires for the rear lights, or the centre brake light under the parcel shelf. You may want to fuse it, but it should be fine.

Thanks for that - pretty much what I thought I'd do anyway ... just discovered a problem with the brake lights ... they don't go - the tail-lights work just fine but the brake lights ... nada ... any suggestions as to cause and rectification?

Brake light switch, located down by your brake pedal. Quite often stuff up, but you should be able to pick up one from ford or your preferred auto store!

Thought as much ... seemed to recall that being mentioned before as a bit of a common fault ... is there any way to test it (multi meter?) or is just better to replace it and go from there?

just make sure there is power to one side of the switch. then when you press the brake, both sides should have power.
if not, replace the switch.

Sweet as ... found a bit of info in the Gregory's manual about testing for a faulty brake switch ... viola - it was coozed ... got a new one and changed it then wired up the spoiler ... lights all round! I guess that's why people were getting pretty close to my tail when I braked ... hehe.
