Are 17x7" or 17x7.5" alloy rims available for pre-AU falcons? Preferably secondhand/cheap.

I might be looking to fit 245/70R17 tyres to my XG ute. Narrower rims are used for offroad tyres.

Either size are available, but tyres you are after will be 235/45/17 or 245/45/17, anything larger in profile will really stuff up your speedo reading and ride height.

Thanks about the rim availability, though i wouldn't fit a 235 or 245 road tyre to a 7 or 7.5" wide rim. Not that it would be bad, but i imagine a 205 to 225 would better suit them. I think ford fit 205's to their factory 15x7" rims as an example.

The tyre size i quoted was for real. The speedo will be fixed by fitting a 4.11 diff ratio, the increase in ride height is desired.

Gday mate, i've got XG S pack wheels (15 x 7) with 235/75 Maxxis Bighorn mounted on the old ute. I suggest going for those aftermarket rims though, hopefully with a different offset to standard, as mine rub on chassis rails while turning. If you go full lock they actually lock onto chassis, lifting front end, not the best for tight monouvers.

Other than that, have you had any tyre fouling in the following areas . . .
- the sheet of steel in the upper rear of the front wheel well whose edge points down towards the tyre? (this may need folding up?).
- the wheel arches?
- the upper inner part of the rear tyres during axle articulation?
- the exhaust with the right rear tyre?


If i was in your situation with the steering problem i would consider trimming some more off the chassis rails (these are already factory cut), and if that isn't enough, perhaps slightly reduce the steering lock (maybe weld a thin washer or whatever to the steering stop, but there may be other ways).

If i go for bigger tyres than yours i will probably trim the chassis and use aftermarket rims, plus maybe reduce the lock and/or use hub adapters.

215/65R14's are around 25"O.D.
235/75R15's are around 29"O.D.
245/70R17's are around 31"O.D.
