Yeah just splurged and bought some mad 18" rims for my fairmont
Looks VERY tuff, I'll take some pics tomorow in the daytime. As for speedo calibration, will my speedo be out if I went from 15" fairmont rims with big tires (205/65/R15) to the new rims (245/40/R18) I think its 245/40 anyway, i'll double check it. Will my speedo be out? If so by how much abouts ? My brother was following behind me in his car and said when I was doing a flat 50 by my speedo, I was actually doing 48, so with the standard 5% or so calibration error, this sounds about right to me. Thoughts? |

from memory i think falcons have an 8k/ph difference. ie if your speedo says 100 then you will be travelling at approx. 92.
ive got 18x8 235/45/18 with no speedo adj. and its fine. all it will do is bring you a few k/ph closer to your actual speed

From what I've been told there will be no difference on your speedo. The 18" tyres are lower profile so the outer diameter is the same as 15" tyres. Only the profile changes.
Whack some pics up as soon as you can. |

Spot on. I never had to change my speed calibrations going from 15's to 18's. |

Spot on, the rolling diameter of the tyre stays the same. I never had to change my speed calibrations going from 15's to 18's. I think you only have to be worried about speed discrepencies if you're going to put 21 or 22's on, but then id be worried about all the other things you would have to change just to fit 'em in the guards . |

mm starngte that ppl say the rolling diam is the same
BUT when i place a 225/60/15 ( as fitted to au police cars )next to a 225/15/50 ( AUI XR6) there is a hight and hence a rolling diam difference

Yeah the speedo seems fine.
Heres some pics, Any thoughts ? Im happy with it anyway They look pretty shiny, but they are actually Shadow Chrome, the lip is shiny (dish rims) as it is a polished lip. Sorry bout the size of the pics, the camera makes em 800 something kb's.

lol its on superlows already!!
yeah went the whole way with 18's ... more illegal things on there Another plus is that they are 245's, not a chance I can get these things spinning it just wont do it Much safer, and much better to take off around a corner. One thing I wanna know actually, whats with Hub Adapters and why are they illegal ?? |
