Hi,
I have a EL XR8 II, which currently has the stock standard 16" rims on it. I picked up a set of BA XR6 18" Rims for cheap to whack on my EL. I took to Bob-Jane to get tyres put on and they said they won't fit unless I get spacers. I have heard stories of peoples wheels actually coming off their cars because they had spacers. Just wanted to see if anyone has used spacers, and if its worth it?? Cheers |

there are hundreds of people using Hub adaptors here.. some people (like myself) will stay away from them

Very illegal, very dangerous.
I wouldn't even consider them as an option. My local wheelshop won't do it, apparently, they warned me straight off it. Many wheels are made in pre-AU offset and I'm pretty sure it's quite easy to get BA XR copy rims in pre-AU. Sell the wheels and get something that will fit your car. |

i had a mate with hub adapters and he literally flogged the f**k outa his car, drifts, donuts you name it he has done it, not one issue at all, and very illegal it is legal in some states

so if they are so unsafe why will CAMS approve them (after an inspection) for track use where the load on the suspension and wheels is much greater?
the only unsafe thing about adaptors is cheap quality ones or wankers not fitting them correctly or using the wrong wheel nuts.

Alex you should have made sure that they would fit before you bought them
Just sell them and get yourself some BA XR8 rims or GT-P's in pre-AU offset. |

Ive got them on my car now, after trying to talk myself out of it, but hopefully they wont be on for long.
I do regular checks on mine every 2 weeks, i check tightness and check if i can see cracks or defects.

i ran hub adapters for age's.. and only once had a problem.. turned out the wheel nuts were slightly not the right type and were making the lugs fail.. apart from that i drag raced on them no worries... and were generally no trouble..

Theyre not illegal, theyre just generally not RW. Theyre also not dangerous, unless you buy cheapos. Wheel shops are a bit like you, they just regurgitate info they hear. Just because they sell wheels and tyres doesnt mean they know everything. |

Well, I would think that not being roadworthy would be as good as being illegal.
Get done with them and you still have to change it, so what's the point? |

You cant be serious asking that question, its quite obvious why people have them, so they can expand their wheel choice from under 50 designs to over 100 designs.
