OK, a question sorta relating to the topic at hand in this thread

http://www.fordmods.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=24376

i now no that these rims
http://www.tempetyres.com.au/products_c ... art_no=180

will fit my ebII xr8 on superlows with spacers (or hub thingys?). i just had a look at my xr today and i saw this:

Image

Image
Image

that arm or whateva it is is aprox 1 cm of the tyre now, with 16's on 225/50/r16. So what im asking is will the 19" rims on either 235/35/r19 or 275/30/r19 rub this arm? bearing in mind the car will be dropped lower when on lovells super lows.

Last question, where can i get the gaurds rolled and hwo much will it cost, wont this crack the paint and stuff it up? and what will i need to convert these rims form au/ba ofset to e series ofset, hub adapters or spacers of some sort?

Here is how low the car is low:

and here is the clearance at the front

and at the back

Help is massivly appreciated, i wana get these rims asap.

cheers, scott

The rims will fit, i have had problems, with my 19's scrubbing on the exact same part you're worried about. The tyres will sit extremely close, but mine rubbed when on a little lock. The dumb c***s put spacers on to offset the rim a little. Dodgy little f**k.
Any suspension place should be able to lip/roll your guards. Otherwise, if the tyre does hit the guard, it will probably cut into your tyre, and could bend your guard.
If my car wasn't so low, it wouldn't have been a problem with the part (lower ball joint?) that you're referring to. Just depends on how low you want to go really. If the guys doing the work tolip your guards know what they're doing, it shouldn't chip the paint, but it can happen, and it's not really their fault if it does flake off.
You would need adaptors to fit the AU/BA offset rims onto your EB.
I wouldn't even bother trying to fit 275's on the front. I would almost 100% guarantee they wouldn't clear a thing.
Stick with some 235/245's.

275's go on the rear.. 235/245 will go on the front.
Good luck having them fit without problems though.. I have a feeling they'll hit your upper control arm.

Yes i will be putting the skinnier tyres on the front, i dn if the wider ones will even fit on the back, theres no much room behind there, what the widest ppl have fitted on here? mind u 235 is still pretty fat) And about whether they will hit that b*&ch ball joint, if i ask them will it fit and they say yes, and it doesnt will i have my a*** covered?

if the place you're getting them from (tempe i assume) say they'll fit and they don't, then i think you'll be covered.

i know they "need" fat rubber but your gonna end up with a scrape / cut line all the way around the tyre, not to mention the annoying noise.....im just letting scott know that theres gonna be issues as ive been there done that

i just had a look at the gaurds...theres about 10 - 12mm that can rolled, so u should be able to put 265's on the rear if you roll the gaurds....
