G'day all,
As the name suggests I have a leaky boot in an 04BA. It has only shown up in the past month (I have had the car for about 5 yrs) on the right hand side inside boot seams. I don't think it is the rear window seal as it has taken 7yrs to develop. My understanding is that that problem seems to be an issue when new (correct me if i'm wrong please). I am thinking it could be the lower boot strut ball mount. Has anyone else had this problem? As a note when I first got the car, I did apply rust converter and fish oil to the seam opposite the ball mount as per threads on here and there were no leaks or rusting since. I have included some pics showing where the water is running along in the circles, any suggestions? Attachment: Attachment: cya EFfutura |

open up your boot, at the bottom of the boot (where water will collect) ford decided that fitting of two rubber plugs would a good idea because they just look oooo soo pretty, pull out these rubber plugs and leave them out, this will allow water in the boot lid to drain out side, not inside your boot, and keep more air circulating in the boot. this will help, not fix, but help get rid of water in your boot.

my bfI only had one grommet in the boot since I got it (70k) but has no leakage issues..... yet. Having said that the bottoms of the doors are still painted in undercoat. Worst factory paint job ever which I'm guessing is where the problem lays.
is that fish oil EFfutura ?

Yes low_ryda,
The can of fish oil I had at the time didn't have the little hose thing and it initially went everywhere. I eventually got alot of it in the troublesome (at the time) seam and thought it cant hurt to leave the overspray there since you wouldn't be able to see it.. I had better aiming luck on the other side fortunately. cya EFfutura |
