cheapest and easiest way (maybe not easy for some) would be to hook up a relay that powered via the accessories, and have it so it cuts the power to the headlight relays once the ignition is off.. if that makes scene..

as for the high beam auto switch, that would be a tad harder.. lol

i was intending to have them come on when its dark and go off when it isnt.

ahhk.. i remember reading about a kit (like a dik smith kit of something similar) you could modify for this somewhere... ill try to dig it up..
i reckon it would be a bit temperamental though.. eg, driving thru town at night, every street light you drive under would probs turn the headlights off, even traffic lights might turn them off..

yer i was thinking of that too, just need to find a sensor that works for me i guess, when all the mercedes at work are on auto lights they come on with just the slightest change from daylight, e.g when i drive into the workshop they will come on and stay on, when i go outside again off they go,

with the whole street lamp thing i suppose same for tunnels, i am going to incorporate a type of delay to that the lights wont turn off or on when you go under a bridge or past a street lamp which could become annoying,

main thing right sensor with the right values in the right position the rest should be relatively easy.

So I have to get blinded by your high beams before they switch off ? cause can they see I'm coming like human eyes and switch off BEFORE I get the bright light in my face ...

This is sort of an old thread my I just want to add my 2c.

I have installed the automatic headlight kit from Supercheap and it works a treat. Not any harder to implement than any other electrical mod. Just need to know which wires to connect.

When I jump in and start the engine, the headlights turn on automatically and your ready to drive away. Saves the unnessary action of reaching for the switch everytime you turn it off/on.
