i notice alot of water dripping out of my boot when i lift the lid (i own a fairlane) even if it hasnt rained in couple days gotta wonder what that will do for panel life if there is water just sitting behind the chrome trim.

have also noticed the gas strut balls gone rusty first thing i looked for when looking on the lot.

My EA series LTD is like that too, water collects in the channel bellow the rear screen even when the car is on level ground.. and water drips from the boot lid as you open it..

The trick is to let all the water drain out with the boot raised but not high enough for it to drain into the boot itself.. it's a b**ch to do if it's still raining though!

In my Falcon when i had all the boot trims out (luckily) half the spare type well was full of water from it cascading out of the deck lid during the really heavy rains we had recently..

Have a look at the trims om the boot lid where they r screwed to the lid water gets in u can remove the screws and fill the holes with silicone or replace the plastic plugs with the sealed ones instead of the open ended ones

gassa

I have found water leaking from the number plate screw hole thing on my EF. The bit of plastic for the screws to screw on. Just put a dab of silicone there.

had the same problem in my au. every time it rained, or my car got wet, if i opened the boot, even days afterwards, water would poor from inside into the boot.

found the source of the problem, it was the seal around my spoiler.
i figured it had to be where the water was getting in as there was no other way. so i unscrewed the spoiler, and noticed a rubber/foam type tapre around the edge had started coming away. this way allowing water to seep in through the hole that led the wire from the led on the spoiler to pass through.

i fixed it simply with silicone.

maybe try that?
