I reckon you will be the only EF/EL driver in tassie with a BA bulge mate, i haven't seen one on another car thats not a BA. (other then a few VS's with complete aftermarket BA bonnets)

so is the reasoning behind cutting the bonnet to make it stronger by fibrglassing the inside?

Would it be acceptable to leave the bonnet intact?

What about cuttin the side of the bulge to curve with the bonnet, would that work?

Possible, but then it's even more weight on the bonnet, also won't sit as flush, and when you start slaping fibreglass or bog or whatever on the side of the bulge to curve it up your going to change the shape of the bulge.
plus, as said previously there's a lot of flex with the bulge due to the steeper down curve of the EF bonnet, so you need to have it firmly help down or one day it'll crack and lift up.

Does the material that the bulge is made out of melt??? or make the paint react when it gets hot as if you have left the holes on the underside all the engine heat will be pocketed underneath your bulge and just sit there as it has no where to escape

Alot of guys just put the bonnet bulge on top of their bonnet without cutting the sheet metal off therefore they dont get the heat issue.

I have seen a bulge on a NC Fairlane that looked like it had melted or either had some one sit in the middle of it. The owner said it melted

Just something to enquire about from the manufacturer, better to be safe than sorry..............

Nice work but is there any advice on how long before cracks MAY appear,I've made a few inquiries to crash shops in my area and was told to try and get a metal buldge from wreckers so it can be welded on as they recon fibre glass will last 12mths or so.
here r pics of 2 bonnets using metal buldge and xbgt scoop both been welded.
