We'll it is an awful long time since I have been on here. Since I last posted I have replaced the engine, replaced head lights with LED accents (Audi style), fixed the dual zone air con, refurbished the original wheels and sprayed them with a plastic film in metal flake gunmetal colour (it can be peeled off) and just kept the Fairlane clean. Ditched the chrome 18's years ago as they were cheap and buckled with the weight of the car and the boat!

I will do something about a twin system but will keep it hidden and retain the originality of the car. There is something about keeping it mostly stock that appeals to me. the original engine is even mothballed and glad wrapped in my garage.

The timing chain tensioners both broke and ate the aluminium front case, turning the oil into metal flake paint, screwing most bottom end bearings and subsequently the engine. Could not even tell until Limp Home Mode happened one day and the engine was doomed.

Found a second hand engine for $2k and had my mechanic fit it. Damn thing is more gutsy than ever.

A full respray is on the cards in the same colour.

I have seen a G220 with an xr8 kit fitted before, i think it might have been on ford forums. Or you could do something like this...

Looks f**k nice!

That is sex on wheels, had the tail lights hadnt been photoshoped to look that bad I would have thought it was the real deal.

Makes me want a B series LWB even more now.

Taillights photoshopped? They look the same as what's on my g220
