This has probably been posted before.....but anyway.

Is the difference in the stud pattern or offset? I am under the impression that it is offset if so what do I need? Spacers? Got a handle on a set of BA XR wheels complete with tyres cheap and wanna know what I am up for to make em fit properly. Any help would be appreciated. 8-)

The offset is different so you need spacers which are illegal or hub adapters which I believe are not legal. Spacer just sit in between your studs and wheel to push it out whereas hub adapter actually bolts on and has its own studs I think.

Thanks mooseman. These wheels are just too good to pass up! . Knew spacers were illegal but had never heard of the adaptors :? Where can I get a set and any idea of cost?

umm try ringing www.tempetyres.com.au and see although I havent used them before I have heard alot of good things and I think they have cheap postage. Adapters usually run for about $200-$250 a set I think.

The adaptors apparently are more for fitting wheels to cars where the stud pattern is different. Can anyone tell me how thick the spacers need to be? 8-)

spacers are prone to cracking and causing your wheel to fall off,hub adaptors are also illegal but are used on here by many members and have heard off them handling the drag strip so sound strong enough i use em had no problems,on other cars they are used for different stud patterns but most commonly on falcons for the e-series conversion.

both are illegal, here in vic anyways. hub adaptors are much safer than spacers though.

im using hub adaptors at the moment and havent had any probs, cept for when i went to put the spare on (old e series offset) and it stuck out a mile and a half from the car

Wasn't too worried about the legalities; was more worried about it being safe 8-) . Some things that are deemed illegal don't make your car less safe such as six point roll cages but thats another argument.
So the adaptors are the way to go then? You've had no probs with them Mooseman? I may sound like I am repeating myself but I wanna be sure I get this right cos I may not get a second chance

Yeah wicksy. Sick of the eb xr wheels. Looks good but pretty plain and small. Put the wheels off my ute on it and the old eb looked like a new car. That was my inspiration I guess
