G'day all.

The lower XR6 sideskirt badges on my BA have started flaking. It's almost as if the original chrome-look silver has worn and flaked off, showing a very dull grey underneath.

Has anyone else experienced this, or am I just lucky enough (as usual) to have it happen to both my XR6 sideskirt badges?

See pictures attached.

I guess the supplementary question is, how easy are they to remove, and if you do remove them, will you be able to tell by looking at the sideskirt that something was there once and has now been removed?

piss them off as i did.. you cannot tell anything was ever there!... and looks so much smoother... -pics in my "garage thread".. and litterally take 2 mins to peel off and then just wax the side skirt to get rid of the glue residue and built up road grime... -very easy mod..

Thanks for your quick reply, fordfreak ef.

How do you recommend going about removing them without damaging the paint underneath?

used a stanly knife blade to lift a corner of the badge up and peeled it off.. -it didnt peel any paint away with it and is very flexible..

Did it earlier this afternoon, very happy with the results. Used the stanley knife as you suggested, and it came off with a little effort. Thanks!

'Smooth' indeed :)

My BA has the XR6 insignia on the stripe decals, so it most definitely looks less cluttered now. Will post pictures up later on.

Mine also have the chrome peeling off. I've just left them
for the time being, but have toyed with the idea of hand
painting them matt black.....

This is the sideskirt without the XR6 badge.

I think it looks ALOT cleaner.

Hey Vertgo,
Have you got a full shot of the car....??
Wouldn't mind seeing how the black stripes look on the silver.
(We have the same cars, no stripes on mine)

Here it is...

Note this was taken a few weeks ago (before I removed the sideskirt badges) but you get the idea with the stripes and silver paint.

With the decal it looks cleaner, but if you didnt have the decal there and no side skirt badges it looks boring.
