The passenger side headlight is in need of a fix but would like know how to take apart the headlight to access inside the glass / plastic.
One of the chrome / silver ring thing in front of the black surrounds had fallen off due to a crack on the top of the ring and therefore broke off somehow... maybe caused by a thump over a pothole or speedhump. I think it might be OK to superglue the chrome / silver ring back onto the black surrounds but wanted to make sure if it was possible to access the inside of the headlights and anything I need be aware of not to damage the light in the process. I really don't want to fork out too much money for a replacement headlight. Thanks.

Not sure if "The Dok" logs in here much ... but he is on AFF and runs a company called the headlight hospital ... he will be able to give you all over the information you need to repair your headlight.
He is located in Melbourne though if you want him to fix it.

the only way you can thake the glass off is to heat the whole headlight in an oven until the glue stuff that holds the glass on melts and u can take it off, maybe get someone to do this for you, or ebay has cheap ones often. its the xr lights thats are not cheap.

i had a closer look at the headlight joins and noticed the glue stuff that holds it together is soft gel like. i won't oven the headlight but will try melt the glue stuff with a soldering iron. i'll see how i go.

Whatever you do, DO NOT use a solder iron.
Oven is your BEST option. You can also use a hair dryer but you have to be very careful so you do not blow on one spot and melt the lens or the headlight housing. Once you got the lens separated do not super glue the chrome ring to the black bezel. The fumes from the super glue when heated inside the headlight housing will deposit itself on the inside of the lens making it a bit milky/hazy. Use Araldite or something similar. Also be extremely careful so you do not touch or try to clean the chromed surface of the reflectors in any shape or form.

Yes they are. I had a bit about them during the very long thread: "HID lights" while ago on this forum. The headlights are a complete Adaptive Bi-Xenon Retrofit on BA. Why?
