OK, kinda embarassing... ive winged my way through a blower install, ripped off water pumps, timing covers, mucked around with every ancillary item on the engine... but i've never changed a set of wiper blades.
What's the deal - do you get falcon specific blades? Large car blades? Are they all universal?

EF uses 6mm blades. You buy universal ones that at then shortened down to the length required. I was using metal backed blades, however i have recently put in some plastic backed blades with graphite coating on them I'm finding them to be much better.

Genuine Ford refills are slightly dearer BUT last a lot longer
 The plastic backed ones usually only last about 3-6 months before they start to Chatter across the screen and make a lot of noise

Trico make the Ford ones, and that is what I was using, I was still changing them about 3 times a year though. Of course in Victoria we use them all year round. I have never been a fan of plastic backed blades before but these were much cheaper and smoother, if they last as long as the others then I'm still in front.

go to super crap and get the big blues - they work well, are cheap, and they're Blue!!!

You also need the narrow head blades too, i know this as i just replaced mine last weekend lol. I got trico ones, 610mm i believe they are.

Your local K-mart has a little computer thingy next to the wiper blades which tells you what blades and refills suit each particular car.

I've found I HAVE to use metal backed blades, as the plastic ones break frequently - may have something to do with the fact I use them the scrape ICE in the morning. But yeah, graphite coated or silicon blade are tops.

Don't get the D (driver), and P (passenger) wiper arms mixed up if you take them off for any reason . . .

Martin, you'll also find that they'll be too long for your wipers, whatever set of blades you get. So just feed them in and then cut 'em with a set of pliers or something similar. Make sure they're in properly too, or otherwise one of the little metal arms can scratch the windscreen.
