Today i took my EL into Ford for its 130K service after paying 370 bucks for the service they told me that my Mags are of bad quality and i should go and buy some good quality ones like ROH or simmons.

the mags i have are Avanti stalkers and i bought them through ssv there only 2 months old, Ford removed a chunk of rubber from the inside of one of the tyres that was causing them to be un balanced.

what do you recon?, sohuld i get rid of them and save up for a set of ROH mags or something similar, and are ROH mags all of the same quality?

Well ROH make the ford steelies (well on my car they did) so its no wonder ford are recommending them.
i say just keep what youve got.

when you pay 4g for mags (roh) you wanna hope they r good quality.

wait to see if it happens again or take it to a wheel, suspention specialist.

being from ssv they would be second hand right?

If they are reccomending you spend money ELSE where, Id be inclined to believe it.
If they wanted u to dish out for stock rims or something else from then, then id be warey.

nothing wrong with advanti

remember, all wheels sold/fitted to vehicles after early/mid 70's all have to comply with a set of standards

Heres a pic of the mags (not a really good pic), when i bought the mags from SSV i thought that they were selling me new mags, and the had that nice new smell about them.

But i also belive that the ford fellow is just trying to flog me a new set of rims, iam taking it down to a suspension specialist tommorow and then ill find out the real story.

thanks for the quick replies people

A young guy at work had a set of VTSS copies on his VT fitted. There was a constant vibration & after going back to the place he brought them they found that 1 of them could not be balanced properly so he ended up fitting a set of genuine VTSS at a higher cost & it fixed the vibration.

my old set of ROH snypers there was a faulty rim, one rim was always hard to balance out. you could balance it out perfect on the balancing machine but you put it on the front of the car there was always slight vibration, i just always tryed to put that rim on the back of the car.

ive got advanti rims and have had no problems with them and ive had them for ages and they get a fair work out. although they are not as good qaulity as ROH id have them over simmons anyday as i have seen the problems with 3 piece rims leaking and cracking
