Hi all,
does the rear bar need to be removed to take off the beaver panel? thanks.

Beaver Panel?
I think you need to add a little more detail here. There are no removable panels under the plastic bumper bar, so I am not sure what you are referring to. Also, is it a sedan, wagon or ute? EA-ED or EF/EL etc. BenJ

I replaced mine a few months ago, i had to undo the trim in the wheel archs and loosen the towbar. in turn i could just fit and tighten up the beaver panel.

Thanks, so as you loosen the bolts behind the wheel arch trim, the bar starts to lower?

To take off the rear bar is easy anyway, just take it off and take out the screws holding the back panel aka the beaver panel, im not sure how many screws but you will see once the bar is lowered or taken off.

the rear beaver ( as you've called it) is not welded on, unlesss its been to a dodgey panel beater. bumper bar comes off easy 2 bolts at the ends (10mm heads), and 4 bolts inside the boot, lift the carpet and they're behind the rubber grommets (14mm heads). bumper will lower and you can get to the 2 end screws on the rear beaver panel, 1 either side. you then need to remove the small piece of carpet from around the lock striker inside the boot and look behind there, there are 3 or 4 nuts inside the boot on the back of the beaver panel. easy job, about 15 mins

Elf Capri, the BEAVER (or end panel) is most DEFINITELY welded to the car, they have been like that for a long time. I think you may be calling what you are thinking of the wrong thing.

That would be because that panel you are referring to is a filler or Valance? On Ef/EL the same applies as with most other cars, the Beaver panel is the one that is welded to the rear boot floor of the car. I have been selling parts for cars for 40+ years and that is what a BEAVER panel is.
Not trying to be a smarty, just explaining is all.

Ahh, Good to clear that up! I've always called them a filler panel.
Perhaps the author can rename the title.

ive been a panel beater for 22years and have heard different panels/parts being called lots of different things, sometimes it is just easier to work out what the person is talking about and advise them on that. some people get offended when you correct them
