Hi there, so I was wiping out the Boot channel the other day and realized on the right hand side that where the two panel lips meet/ cross over each other and join that there is some rust in the joint, and I was wondering what would be the best option to fix this problem? The car is a 2008 Fairmont Ghia

The car is under warranty. Take it back to Ford before it becomes worse.

i would get rid of it asap, if there is rust there, you will find it will start poping up in most of the overlaping panels in the boot and inner guards.
its a shame how these late model falcons rust out faster than a tin can in salt water..lol |

Rust is like cancer. The longer you leave it the worse it gets. Get a professional to look at it.

You have a 5 year rust and perforation warranty.
Take the car to Ford and let them fix it!!! Same thing happened to my last car (BF XR6T) and they fixed it for nothing!!

*fixed it* lol I'm yet to see fraud service solve a problem I've had yet. not all new buyers opted for the extra warranty and the rust guard either. Like troyman said it's a bit of a shame.

if its in between panel joins its going to be hard to completly fix unless the overlapping panels are removed, eg spot welds removed and joins opened up,,
ford will probably just get it cleaned up, throw some rust inhibiter and re paint it so it lasts another year or two so they dont have to repair it under there warranty again.. unfortunatly its going to always be a problem area.... |
