hey guys, am looking at making my ba front end look something like this..
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/2006-Ford-Fairmo ... dZViewItem im guessing the bf1 bumper should bolt straight on, and the grills are the same from ba to bf1. do the silver light bezels, and the chrome strip under the number plate pop out? or are they part of the bar? looks like that bar is the same as on all bf1's, with the extra chrome pieces. im guessing ford would charge an arm and a leg for those chrome bits, anyone know of somewhere that would do them cheaper? dont know about finding them at a wreckers...... also are they "cornering lights" like the ba ghia's had, ore are they proper driving lights? cheers |

also are they "cornering lights" like the ba ghia's had, ore are they proper driving lights? The chrome lights and the centre chrome strip seem to be separate from the bar. I've seen the lights on ebay but they appeared to be brushed chrome not shiny chrome. See one of the pics. Can't remember how much they went for. On BF MkI and II Fairmont Ghias, they are not cornering lights -- definitely driving lights (the owner's manual calls them fog lights). They have their own switch on the dash. They only work if parking lights or headlights are on, and the switch is on too.

Pic is of BA MkI and II Fairmont Ghia, showing the cornering lights, as opposed to the driving lights on BF I and II Fairmont Ghias.

Hey guys sorry if this is off topic but does anybody know if the fog lights and the plastic housing off the BF (as shown in the second photo posted above by regency) would fit in place of where the BA XT cornering lights would go? They look pretty similar... This would be an awesome mod for those who want spotties on their BA XT like me ! May look a little different but I don’t think it’d look bad, plus as regency said, the lights on the BF are proper driving lights and supposedly can handle a lot more energy than makeshift BA driving lights using the cornering lamps as many other people have done… Even if this requires slight modification it sure beats using cornering lamps as spotties or finding parts and replacing the whole front bar!
If anyone knows, let us know! Cheers. |

dont think they'd fit as the inside of the housings are on a different angle...

I just had a closer look and you're right fourL6. However, maybe you can use the right side BF spottie moulding on the left side of the BA's moulding, the mouldings look pretty similar this way. Does that make sense?
I was confused because in regency's second pic the BF fog lights are displayed on the wrong sides. The right foggie is on the left and vice versa.. Compare the two photos below, it looks possible to do with slight modification... i doubt it would be a straight swap (thanks to regency for the photos).

the spotties wont fit a ba, only bf. have organised a bar, they want $420 for a bar painted in my coulour and $70 for a painted grill (not chrome). is that a good deal? thinking i might buy a chrome grill for $100 off ebay instead...

I think the main thing to consider is make sure that the BF spotties don't project at the wrong angle, when left and right are swapped around. The plastic mouldings with the spotties are designed to point them straight ahead when on the sweeping-back angle at the outsides of the bumper bar. By the way, here is a pic of the BFII Fairmont Ghia and its spotties.

B.t.w that BFII Farimont Ghia looks absolutely sweet! classy! |
