ok obviously sum of you have seen the design of my car wit the gold/orange colour and grey/silver body kit
now that car has 18' BA GT's in the picture the big problem is that as every1 knows it is illegal in victoria to have anything between the rim and the hub... so the BIGGEST decision i have to take is whether i risk it? the thing i look at is i would hate for a f*cken Merc driver to pull out in front of me and me paying his $20,000 repairs coz im not insured... whats ur opinions on the topic??? if i decide not to use them, if any1 is after a set of 5 BA GT rims u know where to look...

to me its not worth it. what the point of forkin out for your insurence premium then having it void. plus if the jacks pulled you would have to have them removed any. but hey thats my 2c

Considering all the work you are going to get done (having looked at your other posts) then I would suggest that keep the wheels, get all the work done as you have suggested.....and then most of all get an engineers certificate to cover you. Once you have this contact Shannons Insurance and they will insure you. Just a suggestion.

prob sell them for $2000
coz they are worth $4000 from ford but 'cds70' are you sure about what you said?? coz if i can do that and shannons will insure me ill be a very happy man

yeah i look at it the same way
id rather have a car that when i get pulled over for a roadworthy the cops can check the car 5 times over and not find anything rather than drive away wit a yellow sticker on my windscreen so for the time being ill concentrate on my paint job & interior and then rims later id like a set of 18's coz i had 17's before but ill see what my options are with 18'

As a finance manager at a car dealership I strongly emplore you to keep the car legal, your duty of disclosure to the insurer has to be 100% correct, not too mention if the car is financed and even in the unlikely event of a total loss (being your car) and the payout is not covered, there is nothing worse than paying for something you no longer own. I have an ef XR8 and I know the pre AU wheel choice is crappy but there are quite a few 17" options - ROH or Simmons ?

yeah i totally understand what your saying
but if i can get an OK from an engineer with a certificate and get insurance through shannons, just cars or who ever else... great... otherwise ill be selling my rims and get what other rims i can now ROH arent bad... they r ok... i havent had a proper look at them and simmons... what can i say... bit pricy? i was given a price of about $2900 for just the rims and ill have to spend $1000 on tyres on that... so i just gotta look around a bit more simmons would be 1 of the last rims id go for coz i just want sumthing a bit different but its a bit hard coz half the time its like the salespeople cant be bothered helping you

People complain and whinge to much, its all legal if you go the right way about it. Stop speculating if you just ask some random worker and they dont look in the policy and legalities of course they'll say their not legal because 90% dont know what the hell they are anyway.
Get ADR stamped ones, or try to get a cheap engineers certif for them and you'll be fine. Check 100% their illegal with your insurance company and see what they say, most times you find a lot of wheels nowadays have them fitted for you and are legal. On top of that even the freakin porsches come standard with it, enquire and dont listen to all the speculation as i said not many people KNOW about it properly only that their illegal, why because people were using 'spacers' wihch do NOT bolt onto your hub and infact act as what their called a spacer, like a washer for a nut, which can crack under pressure of course, a billet hub adapters most likely wont. |

Yeah fuzion heading in the right direction. Best to look at the Vicroads site for the list of approved engineers in Vic and then ask them what the deal is. It will be quicker this way and you will find out whether it is possible or not to have hub adaptors and if so the costs invloved.
