One of my mates cars from work had the blue oval pinched from the tailgate on his EL wagon. What is the best way of removing the double sied tape left over on the tailgate - I thought maybe some hot water and a cloth and some elbow grease?

bit of euco oil.let that soak then give it a bit of elbow grease

Hairdryer should work to heat up the glue on the tape and then you should be able to pry the big bits off with a credit card, NOTHING SHARP, then some elbow grease.

use some kero on a cloth and then a bit of polish
either that or eucalyptus oil

Prep Wash aka (Wax & Grease remover) actually specifies on the tin that it may be used for removing decals from the painted body surface

Maybe just stick the new one on top of it?
I just used degreaser to get it off when I removed my 'GLi' badge! |

Is it hard to debadge? Does it just pry off and leave that tape.
