is there anyone who sell the bonnet bulge. ive got another bonnet, for the fairmont, give me for work to do!

Do a search, rear the threads on people who've already done or doing it and they usually say who/where they got it from.
ebay.com.au has them. awc or I got mine from EDXRSW (member on here). |

When installing these bulges what sort of strengthening is needed once you cut the existing bonnet?

Not just sticking it on but actually making more room for ventilation etc.. I'm fairly sure that some of the few ones i've seen are just fiberglassed on top with no hole beneath.

if you don't cut through the factory bracing then shouldn't have an issue. |

im jsut wondering, when u mould the fibreglass mould to bonnet , with so much vibration and movement in the bonnet, wont it make it crack around where it has been stuck to the bonnet. even though you, get it stuck down mega good.

some of the guys putting bulges on there cars have had problems with cracking around the top join.when i fit any scoop or bulge to a steel bonnet i put a layer of fibreglass on the bonnet to stick it on with then after it has gone hard i grind down the top join and put another layer of glass over the bulge and back onto the bonnet.i reckon i've done about 50 bonnets like this and as yet have not had a problem with cracking.

I doubt you'll get f**k all benifit from your 'more air circulation', but if it helps you sleep at night go for it. Besides if you look at the lower framing of the bonnet it's not all covered, so the air can obviously still circulate above it. Either way you'll need some sort of bracing, and unless your actually after the real estate under there no point in cutting through the factory bracing only to then have to go through the hassle of making and fitting your own. |
