i don't know why it is illegal for an aftermarket ecu - its the same as an engine swap, i cant put a BA motor in (for Example) a mustang and get it to pass a RWC without running the original BA ECU.

If you are going to go to get the EPA test done
Get it done on the Stock ECU and run as low boost as possible 2-3psi if you can. should pass no worries there.

Mate gave it too me. Was just seeing how it would go, and got a redline manifold and adapter plate for $80, It had a big flat spot around 1500, But pulled very hard up to 6000, First motor was abit of a freak but sayin that it would have the power of an CFI ea :P , Freak for an 83 commodore lol,
went through 3 engines and 2 boxes in 6 months. TOUGH old commodores.

i dont think the cops would care at all but what happens if u leave the lights on and got a flat battery? at least with the boot release you can still open it with a key.

the best way to fix this is to just get it a enginear cert but dont got to one that was an emissons test done coz it will deffently fail,95% of the cars on the road today would fail it
