Im prob gonna get blasted for this but im gonna put some ef xr bonnet vents on my car. They are gonna be purely cosmetic (rice some might say) but just like the look of them. It wont be done tacky or cheap. Will have mesh and nearly look original. Here is a pic of them just sitting on it. These are not in the correct spot but just near them. Nor are they painted they are just photoshopped...

It's your car man, if that's what you want to do to make your car unique and 'yours' then do it.

i personally like the EL bonnet vents, but i do have an xr with them on it already, so I'm a bit bias.

Dare i ask what the point of this thread is then?

Personally I like the cat scratch vents. I've got a set of genuine ones, yet to fit though - I'm iffy, don't know if they'll look s**t with the BA/F bulge...

Imo you atleast need a bodykit, to suit those vents.

My philosphy = If your car isn't a sports sedan, don't dress it up as one, lol.

The way these cars were designed, i think they should have ALL come with vents! The heat that builds up under the bonnet is insane.

I'm getting some EL vents for my EF cozz i like the look of them better. Go for it mate, you don't need a full body kit to make ya vents look any good.

I don't think it suits the front end much imo. But still not to bad when the jobs done properly. Goodluck.

Yeah man its your car so do what you want, the only thing I'd ask is when you said purely cosmetic are you going to cut the bonnet under the vents? I would always say that doing that and using the phrase 'doing it properly' should go hand in hand.

I think that's just stupid, the toughest car I ever saw with the Tickford bodykit is a Fairmont, not an XR. As for sports sedan, really there's not much difference between an XR to a GLi/Futura, and definately nothing that you can't change on your GLi/Futura to equal it! XR's are not really special at all, and if you look at the BA range, there now just cosmetically different, not performance...

im going to get the the ed square style ones and sit them close to each other up the top end of the bonnet, i think it will look tough with rims and lowering, its good to get other peoples opions, but at the end of the day im not going to change my mind if one person thinks its cheap or rice or noodles or whatever...

i know from repco you can get the EF/EL vents for like 20-40$. I think they even had an immitation shacker scoop there too for the same price.

I was thinking about getting a set of these for the car when its all back together.

My plans for the front of the ef were the EL GLi front end (cause its cheap). Wank mesh in the grille and in the air scoop down the bottom and later on a Tickford Lip kit for it.

I think that will look a little wanky but not too bad. There is a EL running round South Road that has the Wank mesh grille and i think it makes the front end look heaps better.
