I decided to get all new brake discs and new pads and caliper kits the other day after nilly Running up the backside of an AU who had stopped suddenly and I couldn't stop fast enough, Was a little scary.
I thought it would be a good idea to paint my Calipers and the centers of the Discs and see how they came up, I am very happy with the result, I used Dupli-Colour Metalcast Anodized paint i bought from Supercheap Auto. Took me 2 days To Achieve what i had in mind but Hey here it is. |

looks pretty good but i think you should paint the centre of the hub as it will rust badly just tape the threads & on the rear take the disc off again wire brush the axle centre & paint black as that is whate the wheel locates on & put some grease on the threads (stops wheel nuts stripping) & get some dust caps for the bleed nipples as they glogg with dirt & rust very easy "50c each at any brake shop . Great job

Well I just got cheap discs but that ended up been the dumbest idea ever, So I shopped around on ebay and ended up getting drilled and slotted rotors all round for roughly $200. I re kitted the calipers myself with all new seals and new front pistons, all the kits costed around $130 from repco. The paint I used was from supercheap. its called Dupli-colour anodized. theres a meatllic undercoat you need to use first and then whatever colour you want to have. each can was $20 I did my rocker cover in the Red and it looks mint!

I'd love braided lines, But i just put all new rubber ones on 3 weeks ago haha. I do need to upgrade the front discs tho, they are warped again! Thinking of getting DBA gold. everyone I talk to about them so far say they are the ducks nuts. Hope they are right.

I did my brakes in Metal Cast Blue and its going strong 12 or so months on.
Infact I was so impressed I did my whole block in it when I did my rebuild. Sux when you fit the front pads and they scratch the caliper though

How's the paint against brake fluid ? I sprayed mine with vht caliper paint , and got brake fluid on them when I was bleeding the brakes . Says on the can its scratch resistant , chemical and chip resistant. f**k off it is . My finger nail scratches it , it chips easy and brake fluid eats it away .

Tons enough to do many cars.

It's not very good actually, I had some paint eaten away by the brake fluid, now whenever i bleed the brakes i rinse the caliper off. Personally i think brake fluid is the Stupidest thing ever conceived. If I could I would be using silicone brake fluid instead. |
