gday i have an EF Gli and i wanted to remove the black strips from the bumpers and the doors just wondering how i do that and if anyone knows how much ford charge for the EL Ghia moulds. Also will the ghia moulds fit in the old gaps? Cheers!

just pry them out - they're held on by rather strong double-sided tape. as for what fraud charge - i'd hate to contemplate it!

the red ones for xr are 100 for rear 50 each for the 2 front peices 50 for the rear doors and 60 for the front not cheap hehe, i would imagine the ghia ones would be more expensive if you can even get em anymore

Ghia mouldings? You mean that faux chrome stuff? Sure, it looks nice and all when new but I wouldn't put it on my car if you paid me. On just about every Falcon I see with it these days it's bubbling, flaking and generally looking like s**t. If you're looking to replace the black poverty-pack mouldings and bumper inserts then the simple body coloured mouldings that Futuras and base Fairmonts have is the way to go IMO. It doesn't look as flash as the chrome admittedly but it's a damn sight better than the black s**t and won't bubble or flake either.

the Ghia ones don't fit perfectly.
they're a tiny bit different where they meet the number plate. saying that they'd be extremely expensive.

Just to make things clear, do the mouldings on the doors simply peel off when applied with some heat? I take it you then need to polish the area the mouldings where at so that it looks clean.

Nothing, I suspect. Some people like the "mould-less" look, I can't say that I do though.

When I replaced the indicator moulds on my Fairmont I used boiling water to loosen the tape and a bit of effort to remove the moulds themselves. You do get a bit of residue from the adhesive left behind and there are a number of ways to get rid of it, some better than others. My dad used petrol on my car which certainly worked but there are probably better ways with less risk to the paintwork.

I have been looking for new chrome door moulds for my car for quite sometime...had an idea to look on ebay...didn't find chrome ones, but there are some XR ones if you look up 'door moulds'. JFYI, they're double width (same width as Fairmont, Ghia, Fairlane, LTD etc).
