Heys Guys,

Saw these are 25% off starting tomorrow (7/7) at Supercheap.

http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/search ... pack+globe

Anyone had any experience with them? I have heard that they may melt the casing?

I want the white looking globes, but i also dont want to damage any part of my car due to my lack of experience with modding but rushing into things.

As usual, any suggestions, experiences, or alternative ideas are much appreciated.

Thanks.

They are still a bog stock halogen bulb with a blue coating to give it a "xenon' look.
As long as they are the same wattage they will do no damage to anything.

Personally, I wouldnt bother with calibre brand. Stick to the known names in automotive lighting. (philips, narva)

i have found the narva blue power globes to be the whitest and best in the wet, if u go too blue u dont get much light on the wet roads.
they are standard 60/55w so wont melt reflectors and lenses
they are rated as being 80% brighter and 20% whiter than standard globes, a good compromise

Go here... www.hidplanet.com ... and you will soon discover that all HID 'kits' are garbage and just painful for everyone else on the road.

the best way to go is the HID kits. NOT off ebay, best ones to go for are the autotechnica kits, that have replacement globes if one blows. BUT they ARE ILLEGAL if you dont have a self adjusting angle for the lights like the merc's and BMW's have, AND they mush have a water jet to clean the lenses which the merc's and BMW's have too. but i have seen people put them in their falcons and nissans andthey look shmick :D

If you really want a boost in light output without extra heat or extra amp draw, then HIR bulbs are the only way to get it while still being 100% legal and considerate of other road users.
For info on HIR look here... http://hirheadlights.com/

HID kits are illegal because when used in a headlight designed for a halogen bulb the beam pattern will NEVER be correct, which causes glare to coming drivers.

Glare above the low beam cut-off is a normal thing, it helps to light up road signs, but HID lights are that much brighter than halogen that while the percentage of glare allowed from a halogen bulb will not be too overpowering to on coming drivers, whereas it will be from a HID bulb.

This is also why auto levellers are required for HID headlights. With extra weight in the boot the headlight alignment would be too high so the auto adjust to be level so as to not blind oncoming drivers.

High pressure washers, or wipers, are required for HID headlights because dirt and road grime can cause glare to on coming drivers, but also for cold conditions where snow is likely because HID do not output any infra-red radiation and therefore will not melt ice/snow from the headlight lens.

Some reading on HID kits...
I highly recommend actually spending the time to read these, there is a ton of valuable information from Mavs19.

ford-bodykits-f15/hids-behind-xr-projectors-t33739.html
ford-bodykits-f15/au-fairlane-headlights-t32716.html

And the longest of them all, but the most info...

They're s**t... barely better than standard. Should expect that for the price though.
