I'm looking to install some aftermarket daytime running lights because I think they look nice on the current audis and reckon they'll go nicely on the BF.

I've got hold of some 12v strip LEDs and now i'm wondering how to go about wiring them up.

Basically i'd like the lights to come on when the ignition is ON but to switch off when the headlights come on (so that it meets the ADR and so that I can point that fact out to any coppers who decide they dont like the mod). I'm hoping that some autosparkies frequent these forums and can tell me if its possible to do and how to do it if it is. I'm assuming i'll need some sort of relay tapped into the headlight circuit that can cut the power to the LEDs when the low beam/parkers are switched on.

Cheers

do exactly what you have told us ...
run the l.e.d strip off the parker line then put a relay on so when you turn on the headlights it switches the l.e.d's off..

:D

Could anyone tell me what the wire colour codes are?

I'll need to find the ACC ON circuit and the parking light circuits.

I'd give you an answer, but I'm about 12,000km from my manual, so can't look it up :).

Just trace the wires from the headlights. Then you'll get the colours there.

Taking a stab in the dark, but the ACC on is red green trace.

Parkers should be brown, as they have been for the past 25 years.

Here's the completed setup. Looks alright I reckon. Would have been nicer if I had put them inside the headlight unit but I really couldn't be stuffed getting in there.
