G'day all,

I have taken some photos of my Ford AUII this morning of sections where it appears clear coat is peeling off and in some instance the roof paint has degraded before I purchased it.

I like to keep it as "Congo Green" but with shine.

Can this be buffed up, if so, what polish can I use? The car has been washed with McGuires Car wash many times but never had any polish to my knowledge. I have never applied any since I've had it for close to 2 years.

If it cannot be buffed or polished, what type of paint do I need and how many litres or coats would be recommended prior to applying clear coat again?

How many sprays of clear coat?

Any assistance is appreciated, See pics

Peter

Yep, if you try to buff that you will only remove more of the clear and start eating into the color.

Badly in need of a rub back and respray. To far gone to save with polish.

Thanks guys,

I appreciate your comments and honesty.

I'll be saving up a few dollars to get some paint.

What would the best type of paint to use. 2 pack, Enamel or Acrylic?

How many sprays for primer, paint and top coat would be recommended?

Cheers

If you are respraying the same colour it will be simpler as you can do a closed door respray. I would be looking at 2 pack.

Are you spraying this at home, or getting a spray painter to do it ??

@ Troyman
Congo green is the original colour and has been applied to Boot and front bumber, rest of vehicle will be the same. Meteorite Grey is a good one, I'l pay that.

@snap0964
Nope, spraying myself at home , with fume extractors and breather mask and on acreage.

Being a 2K base, you can spray with either Acrylic or 2K. You'll need PVC coveralls and a respirator if you do 2K, and some heating.

Yep, got overalls, respirator , can organise heaters.

Primer / undercoat probably 3 or 4 coats should do.

Just need to know how many coats of paint and how many coats of top coat or clearcoat.
