I have one.
I wash my car every Saturday morning - religiously. I used to use a chamois after washing to get the water off, but now, I go for what I call a "shake down" run instead I basically go for a 10 minute drive to nowhere in particular and back, and this gets most of the water off the car with very little effort. I live right near some 100km/h roads which make for a quick blast. Any remaining water which is usually only in certain areas is then chamoised. Good idea? Or not? |

i think that isn't a good idea cos when you go for a drive you get all the dirt and crap in the air and especially flung from other cars driving on freeways on your car.
This means that when you go use a chamois after the dirt will get on the chamois and scratch your car. Thats my 2cents |

yuor better of chamoising it straight away. if there are any tiny impurities in the water on the car, when they dry they attach themselves to the paint, so when you chamois it, it does scratch the paint.
just depends on exactly how fussy you are about it.

Done it a few times and wasnt happy with the overall result; much prefer just drying it off myself as its even and doesnt leave any streaks/water marks.
Also i hate driving my car right after i wash it, as some fuk infront of me always throws dirt back at me GR! Im often driving slow and out of the 'pack' of traffic when im clean lol.

Why do I have this image of Bart Simpson running around in the nuddy after his bath, with what you said, Daniel... 
I'd use a chamois after I wash the car, but it seems to be red after I wipe it a down a few times... (Hot chilli red chamois? )

If the water here is left to dry by itself on the car, it leaves a white mineral residue behind. I've had that. In Melbourne I never had to dry the car after washing. When I got here I tried it and frickin hell, I had white specs all over it it was shocking. My sister did it last week and when it dried, it looked like the white paint was worn really thin. It was the hard water here. And then you go and drive and pick up all that additional dirt from the air and road. Nope. Do it properly or get yourself a Holden Commodore. You've been told
Nah seriously dude. Do it well, and anyway, it's your quality time with the car while your doing it...no what I mean like.... |

Hahahah I did that through the airport tunnel for the same reason in my EA... IT SOUNDED #$%* AWESOME
Wasnt doing any insane speeds, just left it in 2nd @ 40 and then floored it to 80 and slowed again... |
