How much should u generally expect to pay for a quality full detail or just the exterior details for a professional detailer ?

Howdy!

I'm going to hopefully clay bar my car this weekend (Mothers California Gold brand), should i cut the bar up into say 3 sections, or just leave it? Also are there any other tips i should know, any other products i should use other than those that come in the box (bar, spay on detailer (lubricant) and carnuba wax)?

cheers

yep you should cut it in to 2 bits just incase you drop 1 cos stuff sticks to the clay heaps easy and you dont want it full of dirt

No worries mate.

OK big kev
Most detailers will charge between $165 and $220 for a industry standard detail
However a true professional using latest technology products such as a friend of mine in melbourne, could charge up to $300 and maybe more but you are getting incredible work done that will last permanently with a little bit of maintenance from yourself.

My detailing work can involve everything except engine bays and shampooing of carpets and seats

My rate is $50 - 60 p/h and a better than new insane paint transformation will take me up to 10 hours (6 to 8 in most cases)

Of course I do not use industrial standard chemicals, only enviro safe cutting edge technology products such as those that I sell

So it ain't cheap or for everyone but then the products are there for those who wish to DIY

Ok thanks mate...ive been looking for some pros to do mine as the last couple times ive done a cut/polish u cans till see more poor effort at buffing the swirl marks....the last 2 times ive done it been really shonky canberra weather..so not soo good :).. but I need to get it looking smick for some magazine shots that i had to now fold on...due to a f**k p plater deciding to shunt me in a form one lane...not too much damage was done ...bit of a decent scuff up the side but im hopeful a good cut could get the majority out....in a couple years i'll get a full qualtiy re-spray

Yep, more sections the better
So if you drop a piece, you have two more.
Clay bars ain't cheap so wise to break them up

use alot of clay lube (the spray on stuff)
Not just enough to enable the bar to glide but double that, so that it has a barrier to glide on to prevent marring the paint

With carnauba wax, if it's paste which is it's most natural form, apply it with your hands or use a foam applicator pad (damp) in side to side motions
Really coat the surface, let it sit on there for 20 mins at least and then remove with a microfibre towel.

Wax can be applied on top of a paint sealant like the acrylic jett but not before it.

Thanks mate! I ended up doing it before I got a chance to read your reply, but it came out very nice! So much better than just a wax, just had to show it off to my mates today :)

As another question, its got a few scrateches/ chips on the bumber and a few others here and there what would you reccomend for making these alittle less noticeable? Scratch X? Preferably something I could pick up at Autobahn too?

Thanks!

Don't worry about scratch x
A true polish, like mothers fx or reflections line or any wax and filler free pure polish (meg's pro line swirl free polish)

Hey aurora, u seem to be the guru when it comes to car washing.

I have Meguiars Quikclay detailing system, Black Magic wet shine liquid wax and armor all car wash.

My main question is, when do i do the clay? Inbetween the wash and the wax?

So wash, dry, clay, wax?

Any help appreciated, just want 4 months worth of crap off my car (car cover blew off while i was away :( ) and its my 1st time really trying to make my car look good and not just giving it a quick wash.
