Matt, what is your opinion of this item for use as a polisher?
http://www.bunnings.com.au/products_pro ... _1684.aspx or this one? http://www.bunnings.com.au/products_pro ... ers&page=2 Last edited by Papa Smurf on Thu Jun 02, 2011 8:56 pm, edited 1 time in total. |

FORDom wrote: to Aurora 98: mate, i have a silhouette F6, (2008) model, and it was very poorly washed by the previous owner. He let the truck washers wash it weekly, which has put some serious swirls in it (probably from using dirty brushes/sponges after washing trucks!) I have tried mequires swirl remover on the bonnet, and it did get most of it off, but i just can't seem to get that mirror effect? black is such a hard colour to keep clean and it scratches so easily. Have u got any tips for us black car owners? I have access to ALL mequires and mothers products.. P.s, can u recommend anyone in sydney that can fix my cars paint and get it looking brand new again? cheers G'day and thanks for the message Black cars are a challenge to get perfect but afterwards, some regular applications of Glare Infinity plus or Advanced makes it easier The trick with most cars is to decontaminate the paint with the following products Finish Kare Decontamination washes (available from ZAS) CarPro Iron X (available from waxit.com.au) And of course clay blocking After that, I recommend you use Xpert Ultra 1000 with a random orbital polisher and foam pad or a surbuf pad. Finish with a polishing foam and jewelling foam pad Then apply Glare Micro Finish and Infinity Plus by hand or machine HOWEVER, if you dont want to spend the money necessary to get the results I do and want to stick with meguiars, here is my suggestion Wash the vehicle well with Megs Gold Class wash, clay the paint well then use Meguiars Ultimate Compound aka M105 Then follow with 205 finishing polish - both via random orbital polisher I dislike 105 personally as its too dusty and dry and I dislike most meguiars products in general but these two polishes are the best they have. after that, glaze the paint if you wish with ultimate polish and seal with Tech wax, M21 sealant 2.0 etc

This guy is the GLARE product Guru He doesnt do paint correction but after the other guys are finished correcting your cars, I recommend you take it to him for the Glassplexin treatment

yes those products are quite good but remember that they are cutters, at least Ultimate is one hell of a cutter. Make sure to spend the time with it by machine or hand to get the most out of the product and not marr the hell out of the paint.
I'll be in Sydney in September so will help you out then.

Matt, what process would be best to clean up Argon Silver? There isn't any major swirls or anything, but it needs to be clayed and given a once over. I just want to bring the finish up a bit before I get it painted.

I'll try and get a photo to turn out of the damage to the paint. The drivers door is the worst part ofg the whole car.

Long time no see Matty. I remeber seeing you some years ago with a Harvest green XR6 which you did some wonderful stuff with ion the black exterior plastic. I now have a G6E in Velvet, absolutely gorgeous colour especially witht he cream leather interior.
The car is almost three years old now and is in need of a bit of a pick me up in the paint department, with swirls marks a few scratches that dont seem to want to come out (although they are not deep) Do you have any suggestions for the home handyman with time on his side to spruce the old goose up. I notice you mention products such as Glare and your own product shockwave? I still have a load of prima stuff I use on the car but doesnt seem to do the job I want. Any help would be appreciated. |
