Hi hans,
Thought about ringing you tomorrow sometime I now have skype so if you've got it, add me so we can talk for free if not, get it, its a bloody marvelous tool Winter was pretty good for me actually. Now re freshed and excited about summer work and testing and perfecting of new technologies. We have the Optimum Microfibre pads being released in three weeks Surbuf pads for random orbital correction of serious paint damage, better than a rotary and wool pad since there is little to no marring left behind afterwards Xpert products - finally being able to make the products I've always wanted as I'm now a part of the team. got the money, chemists and help to make what this industry really needs Lots more happening

FOUR WAYS TO MAKE PAINT SHINE
Hey guys, there are only a few ways to make your paint shiny or perfect #1 - Remove the scratches, swirls, marring, Holograms from inexperienced dealership detailer or wannabe pro detailer, RIDS (random isolated deep scratches) and any other defects with abrasive polishes and a polishing machine (either random orbital, Dual Action or Rotary) HAND POLISHING WILL ACHIEVE A MAXIMUM OF 40 to 60% removal unless you are hercules if you do use hand, use hand pads or small 4 inch machine pads, not cloths either microfibre, wool or foam pads its the paint damage i mentioned above that is preventing your paint from having the maximum depth, clarity, colour richness or brightness and a wet mirror finish What's happening is that the paint is refracting light rather than reflecting It's all about light. Perfect paint is dead flat or bloody close and the light is going into it and the paint is reflecting it back exactly the same paint with orange peel, scratches, swirls, rids, holograms, wash marring and contamination, is going to bounce that absorbed light all over the place, sort of like how a ball in a pinball machine gets smashed around during play. How can the light be reflected 100% if your paint is dirty and got millions or billions of lines and marks everywhere. #2 - Remove the above listed paint damage with wet or dry machine sanding or hand sanding and then polish with machine polisher This is what I do most often but this is something I recommend you practice alot on some scrap panels or a car that doesnt matter if it gets paint on edges stripped off or clearcoat failure by sanding too much 2000 to 4000 grit discs are the safest options for enthusiasts. you get less sanding scratches by machine and those grades of discs can still remove many defects 1500 makes for super fast removal of peel and defects but watch yourselves. i dont recommend that grade on factory paint more than one very quick application. #3 - Fill some or most of the defects and paint damage in with either oily glazes, a clay based glaze or natural silicate based polishes and glazes There is a limit to what these short and long term fillers can fill aka hide and this I only recommend you use if the paint your working on is thin, been buffed too many times or you've already got the paint polished to your satisfaction as these glazes can give paint that little extra something #4 - Decontaminate and Purify the paint chemically This requires the use of five products for the max result. Finish kare 1,2,3 wash system, Carpro Iron X Iron remover and finally, the trusty clay bar These will ensure that your paint is as pure as it can be and it's ready for chemical cleaner polish or abrasive polishes A cleaner wax, pure wax, paint protectants or any product that does not either hide or remove the paint damage will not give you the finish you desire it's common sense. Many polishes on the market are full of nasty solvent lubricants and are combustable I recommend you use a waterborne system like the Xpert 1000 and High Tech 1500, sold right here in Australia and seen used in my videos others are okay but stay away from compounds or any product that has these ingredients listed on the bottle Stoddard Solvent (naptha) Standard Kerosene Crystalline Silica aka crystalline quartz silica (abrasive that causes silicosis respiratory illness) Dodecamethylcyclohexasiloxane or pentasiloxane - carcinogenic cancer causing substances that are lubricating solvents from the skin care industry Aluminium Silicates Pumice - abrasive thats used in waterless wash systems that also contain cheap petro chemical solvent lubricants Calcined Kaolin clay & Kaolin clay - filler Diethanolamine Formaldehyde The better products usually contain only aluminium oxide abrasives, hydrotreated mineral oil, parrafin oil and water and maybe glycerin

They asked for me to write an article on polishing. So stay tuned to my wall, will post up a copy of it for you to read once it's released.

New Microfibre buffing pads are out and I'm ordering them right now.
The beauty of these is that they work on all machines, not just random orbitals, which the meguiars pads are limited too

I am producing some more videos starting tomorrow where I discuss and show all the various buffing techniques with rotaries and orbital machines
