just wondering what precaustions are needed when welding stuff onto a car.
do i need to disconnect the battery or anything along those lines |

Guess it depends were your welding. i.e. I wouldn't weld directly onto the petrol tank while it's got petrol in it. But exhaust shops don't seem to worry about anything when they go at it!

Personally, I would disconnect the battery if I was doing any welding on a car, be it at home, panel beaters, or exhaust shop.
If it saves cooking off an ECU, BEM, etc from an electrical spike, then the 5 mins to unhook it is worth it.

well if he is oxy welding no need to dc the battery
only if using mig or arc welder actually i rephrase any elctric welding dc the battery

Yep any welding for sure disconnect the battery and also disconnect the ECU, i would do both dont take any chances mate
|
