Looking at getting my 4495's ceramic coated. I want the chrome look, or either the jet black look (to match the engine).

I'm going to do the coating myself, with the good old trusted spray can lol

Would Dupli-Color High Heat Paint be enough? It says it withstands temperatures of up to 1,200 degrees F which is 648.889 degrees C.

ceramic coating works great but that paint isn't going to be anything like the real stuff. Your extractors would more than likely get hotter than 600c aswell

Where can I get the good quality stuff that's resistant above 1000c? I remember seeing it somewhere, but can't for the life of me remember where lol

You can get exhaust shops to send your extractors off to a proper ceramic coating place. Pacemaker do there own coating called Cermakrome. There are a few different types.

http://pacemaker.com.au/ceramic_coat.html

Cost around $250-300 to get done.

As Gezza said, that paint stuff won't stick for too long at all.

Ceramic coating is not colour coating. Yes you get colour out of it, but they add that in. It is actually heat cured coating (not sure of what, but could be ceramic shards or something) which gives more benefit than just looks. The coating helps reduce engine bay temp because it has insulating properties, so instead of heat wrapping them you can get them coated. Have heard engine bay temp drop a fair bit with just the coating.

I got quoted $265 to get pacemaker 4480s with standard coat, sterling or hi-lustre look from Jet Hot in Castlemaine (http://www.jet-hot.com.au/) If you want colour there is an extra cost of $60 or something. Freight can be organised but prices vary. Just to let you know, the quote above was given last year in August, so pretty sure the prices will be some what higher.

My extractors are painted in heat proof 3M.
It's fine. Just wire wheel them to bare, rust free metal and it lasts for a long time.

For the look just go paint if you want the extra performance and a lot less heat under the engine bay go ceramic

Competition Coatings in Coburg, Melbourne do great prices on ceramic coating. Great service too. Pick up and delivery of your parts. Would definitely recommend.

That Dupli crap says it's ceramic. Who knows. I'll get it done in a few weeks though. I'm after looks, and also to keep the temps down as I know the comp headers get quite hot, especially with the way I drive through this sh!t city (full of morons doing 40 in 60 etc)
