To change the headlight globes on a BA ute do you need to take off the front bumper??

No. There is a cover on the back of the headlight in the engine bay.

its is fiddley as f**k though once you have removed the rubber boot/cap, TIP - remove the battery or airbox depending on the side you need to get to - makes the world of difference when trying to replace the bulbs as you can actually get your hand in there properly

no worries mate, just dont do what my mate did the first time and lose the little metal clip into the inside of the headlight, yeah there is a nice gap into the actually headlight for it to fall, then you gotta take the bar off to get the headlight out and shake the damn thing out - real PIA!!
