Maybe the XRs had them removed before the GLis.
Does anyone know exactly when they were not fitted for each of the different styles of EL? |

I just say I've got an EL. If someone knows theres differences, then I'll say I've got the hybrid 6 engine, otherwise it's not important. Being a '98 build I probaly don't have the stickers, but can't say I've bothered looking.

well with no such thing as an EL2....
Feb 98 and later got various engine changes, and cost cutting measures. eg. Hybrid I6 engine (got a somewhat bastardised AU head on it, and some AU block enhancements) As time went on fewer things got painted in the engine bay. eg. rocket cover, block, engine bay itself. My Mar98 build is fully painted, but has the hybrid motor - recognised by the 96DA (or 96DT for Tickford) part number on the head. Other telltale signs, are a black engine bay (not body colour), and unpainted rocket cover (alloy colour), unpainted block (by now rust coloured :p)

I have 3 Hybrids in the family... Mar 98, Apr 98 and Jun 98. All sparklers and none have stickers. 2 of which I know havent been resprayed or damage repaired.
Mum's NL is Nov 97 and is covered with sticks as per specs. As for black engine bays, I now know I've only really seen them in the expensive Ford colours. Regency, Sparkler, etc. The non metallics still must have gotten coloured engine bays. |
