I've seen Fairmonts or Ghias, not sure, where this part (see picture) is chrome. This was an EF thing, had nothing to do with the El Fairmonts or Ghias.

So you mean the surround, the part which the arrow is on and is in the body colour paint *OR* the bit in the middle which has the horizontal lines accross it n the badge on the center?

Ive seen both - aparently the curround is metal and can be polished, altho i swear they are plastic and the center would jest need to be chrome plated, not impossible.

Well same deal, chrome it..
Either take it off or get second hand one to go it too, would proberly help if it were stripped back of paint, but may be wrong.
Find a chrome plater in the yellow pages and no clue what it will cost.

That grille surround is metal, not plastic like the internal "grille". I'm certain that someone on this forum, perhaps FM1, cut back the paint and then polished it up so that it looked chrome...

Yes they did polish up the surround, i remember this car - forgot who did it tho.
Just do it yourself then if its metal, easy as.

Yeah. What happened to the "grill" bit in the middle? What kind of car is that? What was the procedure, and how much?

EDIT: Scratch the car type question, I see it now. Don't see many Concorde's around, nice car they are.

basically you have to lightly sand all the paint off and polish the hell out of it. you have to spray a clear coat over it as soon as you have it polished really well otherwise it oxidizes very quickly and looks really bad.

i took the centre out of it to polish the surround and i wanted to put mesh in it but that looks pretty ordinary.

the outer surround of the ef fairmont ghia is metal ands the inner is plastic i have stripped the black paint off mine and its chrome underneath looks heaps betta. the inner can be seperated from the outer so u can get an el grile souround and put the ef inner in it.. i have been looking at doing this fro ages but i keep needing to spend money on other things.
