Put the bonnet on the car as it is, and drive around for as long as you can, 2 - 3 weeks is good, and in all sorts of weather. This will allow the clear coat to fully harden and cure.
Then cut and polish it. Cheers BenJ

depending on how well it was painted and the type of finish your after, as BenJ said let it fully cure. Now driving around will put alot of crap on the car so wash it wheel getting it all off. Tack clothe it to remove anything left.
Now to colour sand get some 2000grit wet and dry tearing off the edges so they are soft and let them soak so it is soft. Sand the clear so it gives a almost mirror finish. Next up use the final two stages of say the 3M buffing system, if required, if not go straight to the third stage of buffing. This should remove any swirl marks left by the sanding and give a mirror finish. If you just want it done fast - skip the colour sanding and go straight for the 3 stage 3M buffing system or similar product. Hope it helps.
