Has anybody had the problem where the clear coat flakes off the paint. It started as a hole about 20c size on my boot when i bought it and now i have several holes around 10cm in diameter on my boot. It seems when it rains, water is getting through and making them worst.
now i have some small holes on the roof.

Does anybody know how to slow or stop this from happening to the rest of the car. I have already decided to paint the boot.

THanks

It generally only happens to dodgy resprays; well not dodgy as such but more rushed..
When the colour coat isnt dry dry and they apply the clear coats it makes it more perceptable to flake off later on; i had this happen on some of my old car and took it back ot have the whole lot redone - not sure if you know if its been resprayed tho.

What car do you have; as ef/el have good paint for factory paint; i doubt its factory then.

nah its a ed. i pretty sure it had a tough life sitting in the sun cos the bonnet needed respraying when i got it as well (about year ago) and rubber bits need replacing but the boot has gotten bad in the last 6 months.

you sure its orig paint tho; as we got an ebII that doesnt get looked after really when it comes to paint and its still orig and is in VERY good condit; maybe even better then my fbt paint bar one or two scratches..
it doesnt have any colour or texture differences?
If not and its orig there could be 100 reasons why its doing it; but i think you hit the nail on the head - been mistreated and not looked after.
Be gentle n dont spray water on it too hard as it will take it off instantly.

sounds like time for respray man.
