AUI is easier/cheaper, as you don't have to chang the bulb.

I recently did mine and asked all the same questions you did. Here is my post on the subject with the end result being the fitting of the AUIII Fairmont Ghia set and new orange globes. Came up shmick IMO.

don't bother doing this mod unless you put them on the right way, and this means cutting the repeater as per the tech doc, unless you like people laughing at you because you put it on back to front.

as i have said b4 you DONT need to butcher them by cutting them to make them fit you DONT NEED TO. look at my EB i have them they are on the right way and i didnt need to cut them. ok in English No cutty the repeater ok !!!!!!..... Only thing that needs to be cut is the 2 lugs on the rubber plug that holds the globs, that’s were the cutting should stop ok. Also if a person wants them the other way around and likes them that way its ok too, no rule on how they should be facing each to there own. its not cheap if you cut one and stuff it up, it would piss me off if i knew i didn’t have to cut them, and they would have fitted just buy heating the base of the springing part and move it back a poofteenth then push it in .
