Im looking at getting a set of rims off ebay 18x8.5. I am just wondering though, how does a rim of this size clear the upper ball joint on the front of the EL as the 16" with the 50 series ride tyre height is not that far away from the ball joint. The rims are in a pre Au offset.

What other issues could i run into by fitting an 8.5 inch width tyre

Also does anybody know what size tyres fit on a rim with that width in mm please.

I've been told from the guy at the tyre place becuase the wheels are 8.5 wide that I might have problems with them touching the strut towers.

They wont know though until they test fit them, but they wont haqve the product in for another month.

As long as the wheels are pre au , all is fine with standard height suspension. If you get AU onward wheels , you will need 30mm adaptors for front, and 25 mm adaptors for rear.

I had this problem with mine , and with lower suspension as well.

tyre widths are as follows...

18 x 8 wheel.... 235 / 45 18 tyres
18 x 8.5 ..... 245 / 40 18
18 x 9 .... 265 / 35 18.

I got mine of adapters and had no problems with clearance. Before I got them I was worried it would hit it but it won't, you'll see when you put them on. I'm on ultralows as well.
