Hey all, I guy from work is bringing his VP (V6) over cause he wants to paint the rocker covers. Now I looked a em and the rocker covers are plastic and held in by little bolts, just wandering, what kind of gasket it has underneath it and if we can use the same 1 again.

Cheers

If there not to frayed then It should be good, but I think you should always replace gaskets if you take em off, they should just be rubber ones

Id say Gasket again. Some people dont replace them and they seem fine, but id rather be safe then oil leaking out.

So every time you take the roket cover off you need to replace the gasket

sweet, thats what i thought it might have been, just like on my EA.

AU, yeh, you'll have the rubber 1 too, just take the cover off carefully and use some rtv silicone on the rubber if your worried but shouldn't need it.

Thnx all!

you shouldnt need to replace th gaskit, i found with mine that it lasted ~10 removels in 3 months then started leaking.

the commo rockers are a fibreglass like material some lucky owners get steel ones.

p.s. if you replace the gaskits each time your up for $12 of paint, and ~$40 for the gaskits. ouch

No you won't, au's have a big rubber gasket. I think only E series you needed to replace due to them being cork from what i understand. I've had my rocker cover off a couple of times.

ps... lol @ rocket cover..

My EA didn't have cork, had thick rubber. Well at $40 for new rubber, we'll stick with the old 1.
