Yeah I looked into this also. There are no after market badges avaliable. I thought that a red ford oval would be cool and this is one of my projects.

there was a company in syd called "astor base metals" im not sure where they are now, they moved from there old place in punchbowl, but they do badges, they actually make the real ford badges, i asked em about making different colours and they said it would cost a bit but it could be done. dont know how much though, but it might be a lead worth chasing up.

You can get different badges for the Fords at Car Toys in Adelaide, Gold ones are $85 each if my memory serves me correct here. They look pretty sweet, they come in two sizes small and large :) both to replace ones already on your car apprarently.

The gold ones will replace the Large and Small ford logos on most model fords. I was going to get one for my XF way back but then i relised that once a few people got a look at one then the fks would try to nic it!!

i read a thing in street machine a little while back. Cant find the actual mag (to many to look through!! :P) but i think it went something like this:

Buy a ford badge. Grind off the top clear coat and bring it back to flat, but dont grind into the base. Get a sticker made up in the design you want and stick that on over the top of the "FORD". Then re clear coat it.

Voila, custom badges. All for around $25

Saw it on a transit van once, was his kart racing team logo over the ford badges, looked really good, and you couldnt tell how they were done

While we're on the topic, does anyone know of a place that can make custom badges that you've designed yourself?
We wanna make our own logo for dads new car :)

Try and find a place that does laser cutting or plasma cutting.

They'll be expensive due to the setup fee, but they'll do whatever you want. I'm trying to convince the manager @ work to get a plasma cutter. It'll only be standard definition, but it should be good enough for doing badges.

If I get my way, I'll post in here since I'll be able to design and cut custom badges.

All you need then it to get it plated and some dbl sided sticky and you've got yourself a badge.

EDIT: The plasma cutter I might be getting (I say I cause it's a family company and I'm 2 IC) has extremely powerful and cheap software that a lot of after market laser/plasma cutters don't have, or you need to spend $20,000+ just on the program and hardware to do the same job. Anyway, this plasma cutter I might be getting is capable of just cutting an object out of material from a scanned image. The software converts the image into cad for you. You might be able to find a plasm/laser cutter with that capability aswell.

It depends on what you want to achive and what you have to spend.

Here's a few different ways of doing it: - the links just show a few samples of what can be achived.

Computer cut lettering / transfers:
A cheap one off - get some computer cut letteing or a transfer made up by a sign writer. eg:

http://www.actionsigns.co.nz//index.cfm ... ET_SIGNAGE

Dome Labels
If you want badge that look very professional - go see a printer/signwriter that does doming - this is the clear resin dome on the ford badges. basically they can print a logo on to a piece a self adhesive film and then add the resin dome. - this could cost you a couple of hundred just to get a hand fill of badges. eg:

http://www.dilco.com/dome_label_samples.htm

Profile cutting :
If you just want plan lettering waterjet or aser profile cutting is an good option but you still have to finish the part to get a professional looking part another option would to be wire cutting - but dam that's expensive.

http://www.yellow.co.nz/site/etechindus ... tting.html

Engraving:
laser engraving or chemical etching.

http://www.davyengravers.co.nz/uploads/ ... medals.jpg

3D badges / labels:
The real costly one is to have the badge drawn up in CAD and then have a rapid prototype master pattern made - from this master pattern a metal badge can be made by spincasting - the spincast part can be electroplated or powder coated or have sections enameled - this casting can also be domed using a clear resin. - ie:
