Theres nothing hard about removing the backing, just pull the black bars off (drill out the hot mold rivets on the back of the grill) and cut the holding tabs out. I used a die grinder, angle grinder and light file to smooth it up... it'd look better without the lip and I will tackle it eventually, just didn't have the time to be careful with it.

Just use a file you lazy people! Something nice and chunky to begin with, and then get nice and smooth, finishing off with sandpaper. No more embarassing chunks

I tried to do it with some chrome mesh on my car, aside from the fact i f**k the cutting it to the right size process and i couldnt actually get behind it to attach it (would have to take the bumper off I assume) it looked really good! Definantly go the black

Spewin at the Fact my EF Fairmont has a non functioning grill. I took the grill attatchment off and cut out the bonnet indentation where air should go if it functioned. Then I attatched mesh like GT Falc. behind the ef fairmnont grill attatchment. It looks full on awesome and professional and best of all I have a fully functioning grill which has to be a good thing. The strange part is being able to see behind the grill like the b series xr's gt's etc. looks very different in a good way.
