fairmont ones are different shape to the gli and futura ... they also have two highbeam globes instead of the one in the gli and futura's.

Also I htink the bonnet of the Fairmont is a different shape so they dont fit in standard properly.

not according to my ford factory wiring diagram, and when I upgraded my high beam globes I only had one in either side so where is the other one I have missed???

EF GLi/Futura headlights are COMPLETELY different to all High Series Headlights.

the standard light's have high and low beam (H$ bulb) if you pull the black plastic thing off you will find 2 screws in there you will find the extra high beam (H1 bulb)

yeah I agree with you on that bit but my the light circuit in the factory manual shows the fairmont lights have two dedicated high beam bulbs on each side - including the high/low combination.

u sure the standard lights have the high/low beam as well as the high beam??

in EL (futura) there is one dedicated low beam light and one dedicated high beam light. the low beam light is not a high/low combo one. first time i bought some for my car i wasnt sure which ones they were so jsut asked for a bulb for my car and was given a H4, which is a high/low combo. as soon as took the old one out realised they were wrong as the low beam globe is a H1.

since then ive looked at globes in both autobarn supercrap and repco and after telling the salesman i needed a H1 and which car it was for each told me i was wrong. the repco guy even came out to the car and i took the globe out and showed him.

in an EL the low beams are h1, which is only a low beam globe, not a high low combo. i was under the impression low series EF were the same, and only high series had the H4 high/low combo

I recently replaced the lights in my EL Futura, with Phillips 'BlueVision' bulbs (very good BTW).

H1 and H3

H1 = lows
H3 = highs

(both packs also came with a pair of W5W parker bulbs)

data_mine, ive got the philips 'crystal vision' in my lows, and yes they are pretty good, but how are the highs?? ive found that my original (yellower) highs seem brighter than a mates EL with some sort of white high beam, which seems to really lack the intensity of mine... so didnt really wanna lash out another $100 for the highs if there not that good
