Hey,

Over the past year or so i have purchase (3) Rear Boot Lip Spoilers for my ED Fairmont. Now I have purchased these from Ebay and was unable to have a real close look at any of them - but once they arrived they all had the same problem, they have buldges mainly at each end of the spoiler. I think this is due to the metal on the inside rusting and cause it to buldge.

Anyway i guess this is (2) questions.

1) I cannot find a place that makes a fibre glass after market one - I contacted Mick Webb about his after market SVO spoiler but that was lost in the fires. Can anyone help?
2) If i cannot get a fibreglass one, has anyone had any luck repairing the rubbery/plastic like tickford spoilers?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Nath

the XR spoilers? no metal in them at all. all rubber. they sag with age and there is nothing you can do about it unless you bog it. but screw that

about 3 years ago when i had my EB, i sent my fooked rubber spoiler down to Bob Hall in Canberra i think it was.

He took a mould of it and sent my original one back also a fibreglass replica.

i think the place was called Canberra Car Syling. He used/still is a sponsor of this forum

the bolts aren't rubber last time I checked.

member on here "EDXRSW" used to do them, http://www.motorsportfibreglass.com.au/.
they were good quality from what I've seen, with the groove around the trailing edge, which others lacked.
he also did the front lips in glass, and also did glass repro's of the ED Sprint front guard extensions/fins.

They have a metal strip along the inside of them where the bolts are mounted. They rust out at the ends. When i had mine on my car i cleaned out the rusted bits on the ends, cut off the bolts and used 3M tape to stick it to the boot. Was on for a couple of years and never looked like falling off.

he does the lips, i bought a front ed xr spoiler off him along with the gaurd extensions, good quality needs to be bogged a bit on the ends but i think all fibreglass is like that.

Very nice guy his email address is alfafg@aussieboradband.com.au. His name is Fraser very helpful. I am yet to fit mine on though!

Because rare parts are rare. You want a undammaged one. They all get dammage so its hard to get.
Fiberglass is an option to have a perfect looking one.

it might not be original, but a fibreglass one would be much better than the stupid rubber lip that ford thought was a good idea..
they are almost as bad as the rubber boot spoiler that came out on the ford escorts

yep the rubber ones are s**t, and they are heavy as f**k and kill gas struts.

how is 'glass ugly, it's all the same s**t once it's got paint on it.

just feels and sounds s**t. and around where i'm from people hate fake car bits.

people even questioned the wing on the SVO because it was fibreglass. but they were factory fibreglass.

Just get a fibreglass one and fill it with expanding foam before you install it. will feel elot more solid and significantly reduces the risk of splitting

whats the big deal, same s**t different smell.

Unless you have, or your building a limited number car that you want to be original then there is no difference once its fitted.

i wouldnt get a fibreglass bonnet or panels as you can always tell on large flat surfaces, but on spoiler bits there is no difference.
