Hi, I have an EA with only 160,000 ks so I don't want to get rid of it. It has a really ugly boot garnish, though. I recently bought an EBII Fairmont garnish. I know enough about electrical connections to set the lights up. However, I went to put the new garnish on and found out that the EA boot does not have the same shape as EBII, so I can't put the garnish on!
What do I do? I thought I'd go to the wrecker's and buy an EB / ED boot lid and put it on. Now my problem is: the EA boot has a catch (where the boot locks) which is square and has the light sensor in it. The EB / ED has a hook thing instead. What do I do?! I was going to put the old boot lid catch from the EA onto the EB boot lid, but they're different! Any suggestions? Thanks!

the best way is to get an EB boot, otherwise its a major annoyance to get in in properly.

Thanks, but what about the boot catch? Or even though it looks different is it the same? Can I just put an EB boot in and it'll lock the boot as the EA boot lid does? Cheers.

yea the boot is the same. if you want to put it onto the EA one you need to make new holes for the reverse lights to go into and extend the wiring.

I'm fairly sure if you get a series 1 EB boot lid it should have the same boot lock mechanisim as the EA, But it would pay to got into the wreckers and check it out for your self..
